I'm Going Indie..

I dont know about you ya'll, but I am in need of a fall wardrobe update (or winter considering that it's already 50 degrees in NYC). After some great advice from an unknown source..haha..I've decided to leave some of the usual franchised retail stores behind for a while, and explore the independent retail world. I mean, why not?
Luckily for me, I have tons of shops 1 to 2 neighborhoods away to begin with (Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill)..so if you want to visit me and use it as an excuse to shop - hit me up!
Also, check out NYC independent retail week happening in November (click picture for link).
Viva L'independence!

REDS

So j and I went shopping in the early evening and were listening to Edith Piaf (legendary French singer) in the car. He has the great idea of going to Reds Tapas Bar for dinner, awesome restaurant right by us.

We go in, sit down, and notice that the CD they were playing was skipping. I say "man I wish we were still listening to Edith right now, it would be perfect for this restaurant." The waitress says something about the CD skipping and J yells out "Oh I have a great CD in the car we can listen to." She urges him to bring it in..so he does.

And that was the day we listened to our very own CD..in a restaurant! haha
Some guy that was in there agreed that it was perfect for the place...we let them borrow it until our next visit..

If you're in town and want to grab some tapas, definitely check this place out. The tuna stuffed peppers are amazing..sigh.

Hello Brooklyn!

A couple weeks ago, I got a flyer about a show at this pretty new live music venue called 'Hello Brooklyn'. I was soooo wondering where this spot was. and yup, you guessed it... it was around the corner from us, in Red Hook.

via brooklynvegan...

"Located at 18 Commerce Street between Richards and Columbia St., HELLO BROOKLYN is nestled in Red Hook's eclectic mix of living artist residences, the new IKEA, and industrial businesses - a perfect location for raucous live performances, unique corporate events, video/photo shoots, and private engagements."

Roman Polanski got 'Swooped' On...

Ever seen The Pianist? The dude that directed it and many other dope films has been on the 'run' from the US for...well, since before my mom and dad made the mistake and had my oldest brother (oh! the free love days.)

Well, Roman was just 'swooped' (arrested) on in Switzerland...Why was he on the 'run'? They said he was rubbing on little girls. Sad thing is Switzerland is pretty soft and will end up letting him go under pressure from France and Poland.

I love Cahartt-Streetwear

Man! If you have been to Europe and you shop at all, you would come by some dope Carhartt-Streetwear. NO! Not that stuff those kids in Detroit wear, or that stuff Method Man wore. But very very dope-ly designed clothing.

My homie over at Carhartt in Europe shot me a email this morning about the new collab they did this fall with Burton. YES, winter is around the corner!

Check it out!
